NANOEMULSÕES E SEU POTENCIAL USO NA ODONTOLOGIA PREVENTIVA

Resumo


A cárie e a doença periodontal estão entre os principais problemas de saúde bucal. O controle do biofilme dental é determinante para a prevenção o qual pode ser feito pela diminuição do consumo de alimentos fermentáveis, pela correta escovação após as refeições, pelo uso de enxaguatórios bucais com bases em produtos químicos e até mesmo uso da antibioticoterapia. Devido aos efeitos indesejáveis desses dois últimos, a nanoemulsão pode ser utilizada como uma alternativa de administração local de medicamentos com a liberação de agentes de forma controlada. Assim, o objetivo do presente aborda questões relativas a cárie e a doença periodontal e apresenta resultado de estudos que testaram nanoemulsões a base de óleos essenciais contra os principais microrganismos envolvidos nesta doença. Os resultados mesmo que ainda incipients, são favoráveis, demonstrando potencial futuro da aplicação destes compostos.
